Weekend Workshop Logistics involved
- >2 months out from competition :Finding and organising a relevant and interesting activity suitable for the competition and allowing members to take an image or try a technique
- 2 months out from competition : Actual Weekend Workshop (to take an image and edit if required)
- 1 month out from competition : Submission to competition (allow for delivery to judges and for judges to asses images)
This led to developing
- A template of required information for the committee to approve a suggested Weekend Workshop, and
- A convenient brochure of relevant and interesting information for club members about the Weekend Workshop
The Weekend Workshops I organised
Railway Underpasses: Street Photography / Catalogue Photography- DATE : POSTPONED DUE TO THE RAIL WORKS BLITZ (apologies for any inconvenience)
- START : 10:00am (Frankston Train Station)
- END : 5:00pm (Frankston Train Station)
- COST: Train Ticket, Coffee Shops, Lunch, Drink, etc.
- BRING: Camera Gear, Appropriate Clothes, Food, Drink, Money
- WEATHER : Frankston
- TRAINS: Metro Planned Works
- POINT OF INTEREST : Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery
- DESCRIPTION : Start at Frankston train station and travel to Caulfield train station. Meander our way back to Frankston; getting off at every elevated station or one that has an obvious underpass to photograph the brickwork, archways, art, lighting. Stopping off at several café's along the way; and the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery. This will be a social day, an opportunity for Catalogue Images (to be used in future competitions or manipulated for composite images etc.), Street Photography (October Competition)

Weekend Workshops : Past: 2019
- Escher v Nendo Exhibition at NGV
- A journey to look at aspects of image making from a a different artistic perspective and particularly relevant building on from the presentation of the previous club night. Interesting use of light and dark to draw the viewers attention to different part of an image as well as the use of composition rules and techniques in a relatively simple, yet detailed presentation of a scene. A lot of mathematics used in unique ways to develop engaging images.
- RED
- A fun night of unusual props, lights, chats, chuckles and pizza. Red cloth backdrops, light filters and SCUBA torches with Red LED's added interesting effects to subjects - and those photographing the subject. A good night.

- FOOD Photography
- A practical night at the cub with many different foods, backdrops, lighting and help for new and not so new members wanting to learn a few new techniques. No pizzas, but plenty of subjects to fill the belly at the end of the night.

- Halloween at Bittern
- This was Definitely an A-Team moment: I love it when a plan comes together...!!
- We definitely have to thank the owner of this property for giving us access to his passion. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we had some absolute gun photographers come along with strobes and a model that made the night like sitting in on the making of an Alice Cooper music video. A fantastic night..! Well worth the effort of organising. Thanks to all that came along.
- Ice On Fire. Creative and Experimental. Stage 1
- An interesting night of learning. We used a glass table top and the ice columns began to melt almost as soon it was placed on the glass. So temperature difference, however slight, will be a significant factor in delicate ice photography. Also, apparently, low temperature lights can 'move' ice like wind in a sail. Quite bizarre! A good social night with some good shots. And no eye-brows were lost in the making of the images...
- Christmas in July Family Photo Shoot
- Trying not to be too harsh considering the disappointing turn out. Not sure why people do not want quality photos of their family or to practice camera craft with familiar people in a quality studio setting. We will continue to push on though...
- Mornington Gallery Crawl - What the Sea Never Told MPRG
- An interesting tour of galleries, rose gardens, monuments and the waterfront. The MPRG installation was an incredibly emotional experience that really put you in the place of someone that was being washed around in the ocean and drowning.

- Great venue. Great group of people. Great images of flowers. Lunch in the café.

- Done. Great time had even though it rained. Looking forward to next year.

- Done. Seems Story Telling is becoming more important in a lot more photo competitions. Keep practicing...
