Six Step Guide to Taking, Submitting and Sharing Photographic Experiences

To streamline the Frankston Photographic Club Weekend Workshops and to generatie content for the FPC newsletter I developed a simple six step guide using simple prompts for new and experienced members.

1. Plan

  • Think of Concept, Story or Message you would like to convey.
  • Think of a Technique you would like to try out.
    • This could be a camera or print technique.
  • Consider the story you would like to tell or convey
    • Story Telling is an important part of Wildlife photography
    • Story Telling may help your image stand out from the crowd, with judges having mere seconds to view and score an image in large competitions and salons.
  • Review the Competition Subjects and Definitions (opens in new window)
  • Review the Full Calendar or the Calendar Overview (both open in new windows)
  • Consider Safety; and the gear you need to take. Camera and Otherwise...
  • Check the weather Conditions : Bureau of Meteorology (Melbourne 7 day Forecast)
  • Review your Instruction Manuals. You may need to download a manual from : Manuals Online
  • Download a copy of the Frankston Photographic Club Model Release Form

2. Take

3. Edit

  • Image Editing Techniques are mostly based on Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud
    • feel free to let us know of your favourite editing software
  • A workshop will be run to edit your image using complimentary techniques.

4. Print

  • How to : Calibrate your Screen for Printing

5. Submit

  • Frankston Photographic Club Competitions
    • Club Competition Subjects and Definitions (on the website)
    • Submit your Images using the Competition Entry Form on the PFC Website) (login required
    • Keep an eye on the competition submission dates
      • Download an ical calendar to add to your own Outlook, Gmail or Apple calendar (2019)

6. Tell
